Oakland in the Middle certified schools dominate the Oakland Athletic League, with boys and girls sports in every season of the year. Our scholar-athletes compete like the pros, while having fun like only middle schoolers can! Oakland’s legends started in the middle!
restorative justice
Every Oakland in the Middle certified school instills the values of community, leadership, and inclusion through restorative practices. Students are empowered with the skills to address common challenges and promote positive and safe school culture. Circle up!

Student success is our highest priority. We ensure students feel safe, are offered challenging and rigorous curriculum, and are consistently being provided the tools to become healthy contributing members of our Oakland and world community.
RELATIONSHIPS AT THE CORE
We foster life-long relationships with family and community. Our schools host regular expositions of student learning. Students explore the larger Bay Area community and its resources, from Silicon Valley to the Marin Headlands. We act as community hubs, hosting events like family style Thanksgiving dinners and weekly farmers’ markets. Our school-based health centers provide everything from on-site dentists to mental health services. All of these partnerships and resources contribute to a stronger and more vibrant community.
